Microsoft Windows 10 keeps getting better with every update it gets and a few months back, Microsoft introduced a new feature called “Fresh Start”. It basically performs the same action as the “Reset your PC” but also gets rid of all the applications that come pre-installed on your computer by the manufacturer.
This feature can come in handy when your Windows 10 system is affected by a virus or your PC is running slow for some reason. In addition to this, performing a reset can also help you to remove all the unwanted programs that are installed on your PC. While a lot of people don’t know how to perform a fresh installation for Windows, the reset feature in the Windows settings makes reinstalling Windows easier for everyone. Before this feature was introduced, resetting Windows 10 didn’t delete the programs that were preinstalled with your Laptop or PC however the introduction of the Fresh Start feature, it becomes possible for the users to remove everything from their device.
Before we get started with the guide, please note that the feature is no longer called “Fresh Start” and instead, you need to enable special options to remove bloatware applications from your computer while resetting the system to the factory-default state. Now let’s get started with the guide and see how it’s done.
How to reset your Windows 10 device with the Fresh Start feature
Step 1: Go to Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery and then click on the “Get Started” button under the Reset This PC section.
Step 2: Now, when you are starting up with the Reset this PC process click on the option which says “Keep my files”. Doing this will keep your Personal files like Images, Videos, and other stuff that you’ve saved on your PC. If you completely want to remove everything including your personal files then go with the “Remove everything” option.
Step 3: In the next step you’ll be asked to choose between the two methods to install Windows. We recommend you to go with the Cloud Download method since it’ll download and install the latest version of Windows 10 however if you don’t care much about the updates or if you don’t have a good Internet connection then you can go with the Local reinstall method that’ll reinstall the Windows from your device.
Step 4: Now on the Additional Settings page, click on the link that says “Change Settings.”
Step 5: Here turn off the button for “Restore preinstalled apps” and your work will be done. Once the option is disabled, won’t reinstall applications that came pre-installed with your computer. Now, click “Confirm” to continue with the process.
It is to be noted that doing this will remove all the applications that your device manufacturer preinstalled on your system. This includes your Antivirus, Microsoft Office Trial, and the Apps that allow you to manage your RGB Keyboard lights, Performance modes, and stuff. It will also remove the additional drivers but you can download them easily from the manufacturer’s website. If you liked this guide, then don’t forget to share it using the social media buttons.
