Social media is a boon when it comes to staying updated, but it has a flip side we can hardly ignore. Something similar happened in this case where a Local Government Bureaucrat has held Lutyens Media to account using Social Media.
NDTV shared a misleading report about Simhastha Kumbh Mela, which is happening in the holy city of Nashik, right now. It occurs every 12 years. The report claimed lack of preparations made by the local government which was later rubbished by Praveen Gedam, the Municipal Commissioner of Nashik. Check out his tweets –
But @ndtv deletd d tweet & changd d photo on website. They’ve now put photo of CLEAN Godavari to prove pollution! 2/2 pic.twitter.com/W5PlRkDnea

Praveen said that NDTV shared a misleading report even after he had shared all the required documents. Sonia Singh, Editorial Director and Anchor at NDTV later came out for explanations.
@praveengedam..sewage flows into rivers,we shld have reported it as NGO claim.I apologise for this,we will carry clarification& amend story

He also said that NDTV used a file photo of Haridwar ghat (a fairly common practice in mediahouses on the use of representative file photos when actual photos may not yet be available) in their story, instead of Nashik’s.
I asked @ndtv reporter @arora_niki why she gave misleadg headg & wrote false news despite takg full info from me, she couldn’t ans properly.

We congratulate the Nashik’s Municipal Commissioner for taking to Twitter and throwing light on the report.
