Windows 10 shares your device location with different apps and services to provide you a better experience. Your shared location is used to provide you with targeted ads, search results, and more. Usually, Apps like Microsoft Edge and Cortana use your location to provide you better results however this can be a privacy concern for a lot of users.
Thankfully, Microsoft allows you to disable your location services, and doing that won’t allow apps to get your location. While turning off Location is easy, not many people using Windows 10 know how it’s done. Hence in this guide, we are going to show you How to turn off location access on Windows 10. Without waiting further, let’s get started.
How to turn off location access on Windows 10
Step 1: Bring up Settings on your Windows 10 system. To do that, simply press Windows Key + I on your keyboard and the App will be on your screen. Alternatively, you can launch it from the left side of your Start Menu or make a search for it using the Search bar.
Step 2: Once the Settings app is running click on Privacy and then click on the Location tab from the bottom left side.
Step 3: After opening the Location tab, simply click on the Change button and turn off Location access for this device using the slider shown below.
Step 4: You can also allow or disallow the location access for all the installed apps. To do this, simply scroll down in the location section and turn off/on the slider.
That’s all! Doing this will disable Location services from your device and none of the apps will be able to access your precise location. As mentioned above you can still disable location for apps individually and this will come in handy when you want to use Apps like Weather that can’t function properly without your location access.
