When 20-year-old BBA student, Vinay Jindal left his house to buy medicines for his widowed mother two days before his sister’s marriage, his family did not know he would not return home in their happiest days.
At 11.30 pm Vinay’s scooty was hit by a white car at the Kasturba Nagar traffic signal, east Delhi, Vivek Vihar.
As reported by Hindustan Times, the CCTV camera at the traffic light shows footage of the same white car, running into another scooty on Monday.
When the white car rammed into Vinay’s scooty, he was “thrown off the two-wheeler in the impact and landed five metres ahead on the road”. No one came to pick him up to take him to the nearest hospitals. A lot many cars stopped but drove off without bothering to help Vinay.
While Delhi did not come out to help Vinay, he had already decided he would make a difference in the life of a needy after his death. Vinay had already decided to donate his eyes after his death.
By the time the PCR came and took him to the hospital, Vinay was declared dead due to heavy bleeding.
“They simply paused and sped away. By the time the police control room received a call and a PCR van rushed the injured to Hedgewar Hopsital (about 15-20 minutes from the accident spot), he was beyond help. Doctors said he died of excessive bleeding. Precious time which could have saved his life was lost because every onlooker turned a blind eye,” told a senior police officer to HT.
Vinay was a resident of Jhilmil colony. His mother turned widow after the death of his father, Chote Lal, a few months ago.
He was pursuing BBA from the IP University through scholarship and was paying his college tuition fees by giving private tuitions to his neighbourhood kids.
His father has called off his sister’s marriage and donated his eyes at the Guru Nanak hospital according to his wishes.
