This might be one of those Draconian laws that most of the Islamic countries enforce on their women. The new Saudi Arabian law is suppressing the women who are already suppressed! This time it is a ban on “tempting eyes.” This action is being stated as ‘stupid’ and roundly criticized by people on the social media.
Sheikh Motlab al Nabet, spokesman of Saudi Arabia’s religious police, announced yesterday that the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice will cover any woman’s eyes that are deemed “tempting.” “The men of the committee will interfere to force women to cover their eyes, especially the tempting ones” he said. “[We] have the right to do so.”
How does one identify ‘tempting eyes?’ To this, an unknown journalist mentioned, ‘uncovered eyes with a nice shape and makeup.’ He also said, ‘or even without makeup, if they are beautiful, the woman will be in trouble.’
I hope the law doesn’t go further by forcing women to be inside the four walls. God, please be with the women in trouble!
