To look for a legendary example for a never ending, inspirational friendship, one doesn’t need to go too far. One only needs to look around in their usual environment to find great inspirations. 57-year-old Finnish Professional Nature Photographer, Lassi Rautiainen has been photographing the wild bears, wolves and wolverines since he started his career. His aim behind photographing the wild animals is to bring humans closer to the wild beings of Finland’s forests. He likes to educate people on harmlessness and beauty of Finland’s large carnivores.
One of Lassi’s gorgeous works is the pictures he has taken of a bear and a wolf.
The pictures showcase a beautiful friendship shared between the two different species.
“It’s very unusual to see a bear and a wolf getting on like this. The female grey wolf and male brown were spotted every night for ten days straight, spending several hours together between 8pm and 4am. They would even share food with each other.”
Lassi Rautiainen, Susan Brookes and Staffan Widstrand together took all these pictures.
“No-one can know exactly why or how the young wolf and bear became friends. I think that perhaps they were both alone and they were young and a bit unsure of how to survive alone…It is nice to share rare events in the wild that you would never expect to see.”
He photographed the female grey wolf and male brown bear for 10 days straight.
“No one had observed bears and wolves living near each other and becoming friends in Europe”
They saw them sharing their kills as well.
No one knows why or how the young wolf and bear became friends! They feel safe together.
May be because they were alone, they decided to stay together to survive.
When Lassi came across the two, he knew it made a perfect story and we think so too. :)
