You know what is the coolest thing ever? Art! And, when it can be spotted as a large sized mural from the top of any building in the city, it turns into a glorified object of dedication, respect and gratitude.
Dada Saheb Phalke, the father of Indian Cinema, made his first film in 1913. Though many awards have been dedicated to him and have been awarded to some of the best people in the industry, still he was a forgotten legend. St+Art Mumbai showcased a 120 X 150 foot mural of Dadasaheb Phalke, on the MTNL Building at Bandra Reclamation. The largest Mural in India ever!
Bombay based artist, Ranjit Dahiya, the one who painted Nadira on one of the walls of Shahpur Jat from Bollywood Art Project, painted this tribute to the father of Indian cinema, Dada Saheb Phalke. Graffiti and street artists- Yantr, Munir Bukhari and Nilesh Kharade assisted him in painting the mammoth structure.
This life-size mural was inaugurated by none other than Shri Amitabh Bachan on 11th December, 2014.
Tell us how you liked this glorious object of respect and gratitude!
Ciao!
