I am still aghast and shocked to the core after seeing this picture. There is so much that can be done to make the society a better place to live in, but I guess if we have to start from somewhere, it is from here.
Thanks to the media for stereotyping women, we have now come to such a phase that girls as young as the one in the picture have liabilities for their own bodies. Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors and everyone is equally beautiful.

It is disheartening that we have landed to such a sick mentality where we have ruthlessly defined beauty in terms of all wrong things. Instead of showing how to get an hourglass figure, perfectly straight hair, a fair complexion and all the other fads around it, why can’t we teach our girls to love their bodies just the way they are? How difficult can it be, to accept and love oneself the way it is supposed to be?
What is the whole rat race of getting the perfect body all about? Are we ignoring the brutal impact it is having on young children’s minds?
Can we start teaching our girls something they ought to know – “you’re beautiful the way you are, you must love yourself and be very proud of it.“
