It happened so that the counselling for her admission was to start at 8.30 a.m. in Coimbatore. Both of them thought they wouldn’t be able to make it. Destiny had other plans, though. From the group, one of the walkers got them some breakfast. Another one went to book and print out the flight tickets. Yet another walker spoke to the staff of TNAU in Coimbatore. Some of them who are teaching at Anna University, spoke to TNAU registrar C.R. Ananda Kumar, explained the problem and asked for extra time. When the tickets were confirmed, Twalkers’ members decided to share the cost of Rs. 10,500.
Swathi, quite moved by this beautiful gesture, said,
We took off at 10.05 a.m., landed at 11.28 a.m. and in the next hour we had the admission letter on our hands. It looks like a miracle now. It was very kind of them to do so. They came around like an angel when we had lost hope.
The good people that the Twalkers were, they also called up Thangaponnu to confirm if they had secured the admission. She said,
We want to return the money they spent to buy our flight tickets. How else can we say thank them?
Now they are back in Musiri. Swathi is going to pursue B.Tech. Biotechnology at the Coimbatore campus. Both of them plan to visit Chennai again!
