Where on one hand some people have a difficulty accepting their mistakes and apologizing for the same, there are a lot more of them who keep on saying “sorry” frequently, even when they are not really required to. It’s about time we start taking the word “sorry” a little more seriously and stop using it where you’re required to. For example, if someone drops you home, don’t say, “sorry for the trouble”. Instead, say, “thank you for dropping me”.
Yao Xiao is a New York based artist who has talked about the same in her comics. She wants us to say “thank you” instead of “sorry” and it makes complete sense. It might feel a little absurd right now, but once you go through the comics, you’ll feel that you should stop saying “sorry” too often.
Yao Xiao was born in China but now lives in New York. She describes herself as,
enthusiast for queer fashion, vintage cabaret, collecting odd objects, and absurd science fiction with a flair of whimsy.
