15 home-made beauty treatments to ditch harmful cosmetics

A healthy glowing skin and luscious beautiful hair are always on the top of every girl’s hit list. A healthy diet and some great products could help you achieve that glow instantly!

It is time for all your skin and beauty products to take a back seat. Home remedies are here now!

1. For that amazing smoothness in your skin try applying a nice thick pack of papaya, Multani mitti and a pinch of turmeric powder. The superb qualities of papaya and turmeric powder will give you that shine and keep acne at bay. Multani mitti will help your skin lose all the excess oil.


2. At night apply Vaseline petroleum jelly around your eyes, gently massage your lashes and eyebrow with your ring finger. This keeps the area under your eyes moisturized and prevents wrinkles. Your eyebrows and lashes will grow longer too.


3. Salad is not just healthy for your diet, it is good for your skin too! Sneak a few slices of tomato and cucumber, blend them and apply the paste on your face including the under eye area. Your skin will not only feel fresh, it will also become tight, less oily, shiny and smooth.


4. My lips like sugar! Take a pinch of sugar and add a few drops of water, scrub this paste onto your lips. The scrub will remove dead-skin from your lips, giving you supple, pink lips.

5. Get rid of those black heads and dark spots in a few minutes! You’ll need – a slice of lemon, 4-5 drops of honey and you’re done! Rub the lemon – honey mix on your face, especially the blackhead prone areas, like nose, chin and forehead. Wash after 5 minutes. Good bye blacky!


6. Go bananas. Mash a piece of banana and apply it on your face. Wash your face with cold water after 15 minutes. The good properties of banana moisturize your skin and add a natural shine to it.


7. Get fair underarm skin with papaya mash. Mash a piece of papaya enough to spread on your underarms or any dark skin area, leave the mix for 15 minutes and wash with water. Voila!


8. Make a body scrub at home for that refreshing and energising experience. Take brown sugar and honey, mix them well and store them in a jar. Treat yourself twice a week with this great face and body scrub.

9. Get silky straight strands the milky-way! Apply un-boiled milk on your hair right from the roots till the tips. Comb your hair after the application and tie a soft bun. Rinse with water and wash hair with shampoo and condition just like you usually do. Regular application of milk will turn your wavy hair into straight.


10. Fantastic 5! Mix castor, coconut, almond, olive and any natural oil of your choice, store it in a bottle. Give your hair that amazing hot oil massage & wash after two hours or leave the oil overnight. Wash with shampoo and condition your hair. Say hello to gorgeous hair!


11. Never massage your hair using your finger nails, always use those tips. Nails will damage your scalp and the hair roots.


12. Fade acne marks with lemon and yogurt face mask. Mix the two and apply on the affected areas of your face or your entire face. Bye-bye dark spots!


13. If you have damaged dull hair, massage yogurt into damp hair and let it stay for 20 minutes at least. Rinse with warm water followed by cool water and shampoo your hair. Do this once a week to get that hair shine back!


14. Oily heads should massage egg white to get rid of the oily scalp. Take ½ cup of egg white and apply it on clean, damp hair. Wash your hair with cold water later and shampoo like you normally would. You can use this treatment once every two weeks.


15. Make an exfoliating foot scrub at home! What you will need? 1 cup of milk, 5 cups of warm water, sugar- 4tbls, baby/coconut oil, pumice stone and Vaseline jelly. Soak your feet in warm water mixed with milk for 5-10 minutes, take coconut oil and sugar and mix them well. Apply this paste on the feet, massage in circular motions and scrub with pumice stone. Rinse well, pat your feet dry and apply Vaseline petroleum jelly. Pull on cotton socks for 4 hours.


Besides all of these tips, it is essential for you to maintain a healthy diet. Eat lots of green veggies, dairy products, fish and fresh fruits, especially the ones enriched with vitamins to have that wonderful look and feel.
