Poking fun at the so-called “hippie #igers” who talk about getting out, investing time on adventure, travel and portraying what they are not, SocalityBarbie ridicules the subculture. Looking good in any way is an important notion in the minds of adventurous #igers who take pictures in the same way, do similar things and even have similar sounding captions.
The anonymous creator of this funny account told Lost at e Minor: “I get it, it’s pretty to look at. But it’s so dishonest. Nobody actually lives like this. And it’s so overdone that it’s becoming boring”.
Inspiration? “People were all taking the same pictures in the same places and using the same captions. I couldn’t tell any of their pictures apart so I thought, ‘What better way to make my point than with a mass-produced doll?”
