From playing the challenging role of Stephen Hawking to becoming a transgender artist! The academy award winner actor, Eddie Redmayne will be playing the role of Lili Elbe in his up coming film, The Danish Girl. The movie is adapted from David Ebershoff’s novel and is directed by Academy Award winner, Tom Hooper.
The Danish artist, Einar Wegener goes through a pioneering journey to become a woman in 1920s. Einar Wegener becomes Lili Elbe after the surgery, the role is going to be play by Eddie. The Swedish actress, Alicia Vikander plays the role of Einar’s wife.
Elbe was one of the world’s first known recipients of sex reassignment surgery operations. Einar Mogens Wegener was born in Denmark and underwent many surgeries. She died during a uterus transplant in 1931. Here is the picture of the real Lili Elbe.
The film will show Elbe’s journey to becoming more than she ever thought she was, a woman. We are eagerly waiting for this film to finish so that it could be slated to release at the theaters. Although, we heard that it will release the next year.
