16 stunning pictures that show the strength and grace of ballet dancers

With the kind of incredibly crazy amount of hard work and dedication required to be a Ballet dancer, they truly demand our respect. Yesterday, the 7th of February was Ballet Day. We can all remember Rose from Titanic and how she blew us away by standing on her toes. Well, that’s just a bit of it. Being a Ballet dancer involves a lot more – black nails, swollen wounds, and deformed toes.

There are two explanations why Ballet Day is celebrated on February 7.  Ballet was introduced to the United States on February 7, 1827 at the Bowery Theatre. Also, February 7, 1668 was the day when the Dutch Prince William III danced in the premiere of the “Ballet of Peace.”
