At its much-anticipated “California Streaming” event, the technology giant announced several new products, in line with what was expected from the company. Here’s a breakdown of everything that Apple launched.
Apple iPhone 13 series
The highlight of the event remains the company’s next generation of smartphones — the Apple iPhone 13 series. There are four models — iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Mini model has a 5.6-inch OLED display while the standard model features a 6.1-inch panel. The Pro and Pro Max models come with 6.1-inch and 6.9-inch OLED display panels, respectively. The Pro models also come with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The company says that the notch on top of the screen is now 20% smaller but what it doesn’t reveal is that the height of the notch has been slightly increased. Under the hood, all the models come powered by the latest Apple A15 Bionic SoC. The devices also come with upgraded camera configuration and features along with bigger batteries.
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will start at $799 and $699 while the Pro and Pro Max models start at $999 and $1,099 respectively. The devices go up for pre-order from 17th September and will go on sale from 24th September.
Apple Watch Series 7
The company has now killed the Watch Series 6 as it has announced its successor — the Apple Watch Series 7. It comes in two sizes — 41mm and 45mm. It is also the first smartwatch from the company to have a dust resistance feature.
The design has been upgraded and the screen is now crack-resistant. The display is now a bit bigger and comes with an always-on Retina screen. The company has not yet revealed the pre-orders or sale dates but has confirmed that it will be available from this fall, starting at $399.
Apple iPad 9th Generation
The entry-level tablet offering from the technology giant is getting an upgrade with the launch of the 9th generation Apple iPad. It keeps the 10.2-inch display and now features a 12MP camera up-front with an ultra-wide lens with support for the Center Stage feature.
The 9th generation Apple iPad will be available for purchase from 24th September, with a starting price of $329, the same as its predecessor.
Apple iPad Mini
Finally, the Apple iPad got updated, after almost two and a half years. From what the company announced, it seems like a smaller version of the 4th-generation Apple iPad Air. Featuring a new design, the tablet has an 8.3-inch display which is now brighter and supports more colors.
The device has support for a second-generation Apple Pencil and comes with a USB Type-C port. Touch ID is now embedded in the power button. The device is powered by the latest Apple A15 SoC, the same chipset that powers the newly launched Apple iPhone 13 series.
The Apple iPad Mini is now available for pre-order at a starting price of $499 and will start shipping from 24th September.
iOS 15, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8
Apple has also announced that the iOS 15 will be released on 20th September for compatible devices. On the same day, the company will also roll out the latest iPadOS 15 and the watchOS 8.
